THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC HAS SEVERELY AFFECTED THE NEIGHBORHOODS OF PROVISO TOWNSHIP, especially Maywood, Bellwood, and Melrose Park. In partnership with the COVID Equity Response Collaborative, we are compiling personal stories from community members and health care workers, or anyone who has been directly or indirectly affected by COVID-19.
We want to utilize the power of personal stories to highlight the health inequities within our communities and to pressure our legislators and community representatives to advocate for social justice. We are hopeful that these stories will increase the testing capacity of COVID-19 for emergency responsiveness equity and bring much needed awareness to the communities we serve.
Your story is powerful. Your story can promote change. Interviews can be conducted in English or Spanish via written text, phone, or video, depending on your preference. In order to meaningfully advocate for change, we need to hear from YOU. Through sharing your story, YOU become a part of the solution. Together, we can build a better, more equitable community.
Want to share your story?
Have you or anyone you know been infected with the virus? Are you a frontline health worker? An essential worker? A community member worried about the pandemic? We want to hear your story.
“Too many people are dying and we didn’t know if we were carriers or not…so we decided to have testing done.”Dennis and Diann
